Comment on The Neighborly

Welcome to The Neighborly!

Another homeschool publication?  Yes!

Will I have time to read it?  Absolutely!

The HomeSchool Neighborly is a five-minute monthly publication designed to heighten our connections within the homeschooling community for our mutual edification and protection.

What on earth does that mean? It means, come and visit with your homeschool neighbors once a month! The Neighborly is designed to encourage homeschoolers to be involved with the homeschooling community.

If you are part of a local homeschool group that helps to meet your needs, then I commend you.  You have a foundation of support that is only available from those who understand homeschoolers best--other homeschoolers.  I invite you to take this opportunity to expand your knowledge about other homeschoolers in Ohio.  You will find like-minded individuals and perhaps even a new friend.

If you are not part of a homeschool group, I encourage you to get connected with other homeschoolers! We each need a support network, because let's face it, sometimes homeschooling is tough! It's always good to have a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, and arms to hug. Who better than those who understand why we're doing it?

Granted, not all of us homeschool for the same reasons. In fact, some of us may have exactly opposite reasons for homeschooling! But all of us have one thing in common: we believe we should have the right to teach our children if we so choose.

Do not let fear of the unknown isolate you. No one expects you to hit it off with everyone you meet. But to discover people who share a concern for their families and yet demonstrate that concern in ways so different from our own can do nothing but broaden our horizons and help us to love our neighbors as ourselves.

So whether you’d like to connect with homeschoolers through a formal structured group or a casual chat group, via support sessions or field trips, you’ll find it through The Neighborly.  Each month The Neighborly will highlight one Ohio homeschool group and a family from that group.

So come on in, make yourself at home, and let me introduce you to the neighbors!
