Soap Nuts

Did you know there is a tree out there which grows a fruit that works perfectly as a cleaning agent for your laundry? It’s called the Chinese Soapberry Tree, and the fruit is called a Soap Nut. It’s pretty simple, really. The fruit contains saponin, which is a natural cleaner. All you have to do is add the soap nut to your washing machine in place of detergent, softener, and bleach, and it does the rest.

A number of people groups have greatly benefited from the availability of soap nuts: people with special health concerns, people interested in toxic cleansing, those poor souls suffering from eczema and psoriasis…plus, it’s a perfect idea for anyone interested in doing just a little bit more to keep our planet healthy.

Personally, I think this is a great idea for everyone. But in particular, I can see the benefits for mothers of babies. Can you imagine how good you’ll feel when you wash your baby’s clothes with an all-natural cleaner? Can you imagine how good your baby will feel?

Ooh, I would have loved to have this product when I was still operating my diaper service. I think it would have been cool to offer my clients their cloth diapers laundered in a naturally occurring, sustainably harvested, truly environmentally friendly detergent alternative.

Soap Nuts are available in the regular nut form, just like they come off the tree. But in case that seems a little too weird, they are also available in a high-quality liquid. All the best qualities of the soap nut are retained in this product; the manufacturer uses organic bottlers and natural essential oils to make Soap Nut Laundry Liquid.

I hope you’ll give it a try. I’ve used it and I know how well it works–and how little it takes to get the job done. Because of where we live (homestead) and and the amount of dirt we deal with, I was skeptical at first, and it took me several days to go ahead and try it for the first time. But when I did, I really was amazed. And hooked.

Soap Nuts. The new word in laundry.
